NISSAN OF NEWPORT NEWS BREAKS GROUND
The ground breaking ceremony was held this morning for the renovation and expansion of the Nissan of Newport News on Jefferson Avenue in Newport News. Those in attendance included Nissan of Newport News owner and president Richard Wheat and Lee Gonzalez, General Manager; the Mayor of Newport News, the Honorable Joseph Frank; project Architect, Bondurant Associates, Calvin Sherrill, P.E., and James Hall; Design Consultant, Jane Goldman and; General Contractor, Courthouse Construction, Inc., Erral Cutter, Vice President.
During construction the showroom, sales and service department will remain open and fully operational. Construction activities will be phased to allow business operations to run smoothly while the existing structure is being renovated. The expansion and renovation of the Nissan of Newport News will add an additional 17,181 square feet, to the dealership. When completed, the multistory expansion will comprise a total of 43,029 square feet.
Courthouse Construction was selected as the General Contractor for this project, one of several between Courthouse Construction, Inc. and the Wheat Family. The Wheat Family also owns Gloucester Toyota and Gloucester Scion located on Rt. 17 North Gloucester, both built by Courthouse Construction, Inc.
